RAPAPORT… Dorothée Gizenga, the executive director of the Diamond Development Initiative (DDI), will present “Your Business and Artisanal Diamond Mining: What You and Your Customers Should Know” at the JCK Toronto show on August 12, at 11 a.m. in the education theater on the show floor.
The session will provide participants with information on DDI’s efforts to address challenges in the artisanal diamond mining sector, and why this is important to the retail jeweler. (Watch a video on this topic.)
“We look forward to sharing DDI’s work with our Canadian constituents in the jewelry industry,” said Gizenga. “The Friends of DDI program is available to Canadian retail jewelers as a way to join others, including the Canadian government, in supporting our work.”
Attendees will receive details about the Friends of DDI campaign. Friends of DDI receive a Retailers Friendship Kit that includes a Certificate of Recognition, counter displays, information postcards, and gift box insert cards imprinted with the donor’s name, which can be distributed to customers and constituents. Membership in the Friends of DDI conveys to consumers a jeweler’s concern for diamond workers who labor under challenging, artisanal mining conditions.
