Angola and Italy signed a framework agreement to partner on security measures specifically to fight organized crime and diamond smuggling, combat human trafficking and halt illegal arms deals. The agreement was signed Thursday in Luanda by Angola’s Interior Minister, Sebastiao Martins, and Italy’s Interior Minister, Annamaria Concellieri.
Martins said that Angola would benefit from Italy’s expertise and training in security matters.
Concellieri considered the agreement to be a step towards building long-term, friendly relations and looked forward to cooperating with Angola as it continues to become an important economic powerhouse in the region.
