RAPAPORT… The Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC) has proposed a Chain-of-Custody Certification System, which will allow stakeholder consumers to see the exact origin of diamonds, gold and platinum metals before making a jewelry purchase. A second paper discussing the plan is now available for stakeholders to review and provide feedback. Since the chain follows the path of each stone or metal, from field to store, customers know exactly where their jewelry came from, thus making sure that it was made ethically, responsibly and without human rights violations.
RJC welcomes members input on the certification plan through January 31, 2011. RJC hopes to launch the Chain-of-Custody system in 2012. View the full plan at
