Zimbabwe Exports $23M in Rough

RAPAPORT… The Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) announced selling and exporting 412,086 carats of diamonds valued at $23.45 million between January and May 2010. State-run newspaper The Herald reported the figures and stated that the MMCZ estimated its Chiadzwa diamond stock at about 4 million carats worth $1.7 billion.

The MMCZ valued all of the minerals exported during the first five months of 2010 at about $403 million compared with $191.9 million one year earlier. Platinum group metal exports were said to have totaled $175.76 million for the five-month period.
