Martin Hochbaum, U.S. Kimberley Process Authority (USKPA) chairman, reported that the leadership of the World Diamond Council (WDC) and the USKPA met with a representative of the  U.S. Department of State to discuss how the Kimberley Process operates in both the U.S. and worldwide.

In a wide-ranging discussion at the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC), Hochbaum, Eli Izhakoff, WDC chairman, Cecilia Gardner, USKPA vice president, and Mark Gershburg, USKPA secretary, reviewed with Brad Brooks-Rubin, the new U.S. Department of State’s Special Advisor for Conflict Diamonds, the ongoing operations of the USKPA and how that body interfaces with various stakeholders, including licensees, carriers, government and the WDC.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants agreed to regularly communicate with one another in order to achieve their shared goals.
