RAPAPORT… Officials at Canada’s Edmonton International Airport are investigating whether some 180 carats of rough diamonds seized from a man are conflict diamonds. The passenger arrived February 11, from “central Africa,” but authorities declined to state which country.
When the man was searched, officials found the rough diamonds along with “several hundred carats” of other gemstones and 40 grams of gold.
The man could face charges under Canada’s Export and Import of Rough Diamonds
