Alaska: Customs Officials Seize $400K in Goods

RAPAPORT… Customs officials in Anchorage, Alaska, report having seized some $400,000 in smuggled diamonds since the middle of May 2007.

There were six packages seized in total, one of which had been sent from Hong Kong to New York. The goods were all confiscated at the FedEx hub.

The diamonds did not carry Kimberley Process Certificates authorities stated. No arrests or charges have been filed as of press time, and customs officials are calling the incidents an administrative matter.
