RAPAPORT…Liberia Star Radio reported that the United Nation’s (UN Mission in Liberia) UNMIL called upon residents living along the border with Cote d’Ivoire to work closely with the UNMIL to prevent goods and human trafficking across the border.
It has been reported however the rough diamonds from Cote d’Ivoire are being smuggled out to neighboring countries and have been used in trading arms for rebel groups. Additionally, rebel leaders in Cote d’Ivoire have been recruiting sympathizers from Liberia in effort to topple the government.
Cote d’Ivoire is split by a rebel-controlled north and government controlled south.
