In Brazil’s remote Amazon rainforest state of Rondonia, police arrested a man with $200,000 worth of rough diamonds, reported Reuters.
A state police spokesman said that authorities discovered 666 rough diamonds on the man following a routine road check. The officer became suspicious of the alleged smuggler, a 38 year old man, who began acting nervous upon being inspected.
The officers then discovered a diamond measuring device in his car before finding the diamonds stashed inside the man’s clothing.
The rough diamonds were smuggled from an Indian reservation of the Cinta Larga tribe in Rondonia, authorities report.
