(Rapaport…October 21, 2005) The United Nations is investigating reports of clashes between gangs of diamond thieves at a MIBA-run diamond mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC.) More than one dozen were killed during an armed conflict, the United Nations reports.
News agency Reuters says police in Mbuji Mayi would not comment on the incidents, but reported at least 13 deaths. MIBA personnel did not appear to be involved, according to the United Nations.
