(Rapaport…June 21, 2005) Indonesia has decided to join the Kimberley process. Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Elka Pengestu has issued orders regulating imports and exports of rough diamonds in compliance with the United Nations resolution on the subject, according to a June 20 report on au.news.yahoo.com.
Under the new regulation, rough diamond exports and imports may be made only by registered exporters and importers with licenses from the trade ministry. Imports and exports will be made from and to countries taking part in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.
