(Rapaport…December 12, 2002) Jewelers of America (JA) is issuing guidelines to help members understand and adhere to the Kimberley Process regime of diamond certification. The information is posted on JA’s website, www.jewelers.org, and will be included in the January/February JA newsletter. All retailers should inform their suppliers that they require a warranty with each diamond consignment, in accordance with the new Kimberley rules, JA officials said. Retailers should retain the documents for at least five years. A consumer guide that retailers may customize and give away is also available.
