(Rapaport…April 16, 2002) Russian President Vladmir Putin has signed a decree that extends the ban on the import of rough diamonds originating in Sierra Leone that have not been certified by the Sierra Leone government. The ban is in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions aimed at combating the trade of conflict diamonds.
