UN Sierra Leone Mission Extended For Six Months

(Rapaport…April 1, 2002) The United Nations Security Council has ruled that the 17,000 UN peacekeepers currently in Sierra Leone will remain in the country until September 30. The Council said it was particularly important that key government personnel be sent to the country’s diamond mining areas.
