(Rapaport…April 1, 2002) The Bush Administration issued a strong warning to Charles Taylor’s Liberian government, calling for it to expel members of Sierra Leone’s Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels, to cease all financial and military support for the RUF and to stop all direct or indirect import of Sierra Leone rough diamonds. In recent months there have been reports of former Sierra Leone combatants crossing into Liberia with their arms and causing disturbances at the border area between the two countries.
