Complete Sierra Leone Disarmament Slated for Month’s End

(Rapaport…November 9, 2001) Revolutionary United Front (RUF) representatives and Sierra Leone government officials agreed to take action to facilitate total disarmament in all districts by the end of the month. The two groups met in Freetown on November 8 under the chairmanship of the UN. They formally declared the Koinadugu and Moyamba districts disarmed and appealed to the international community for support in the country’s Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration program as the rest of the districts continue to disarm.
