(Rapaport…November 5, 2001) A Revolutionary United Front (RUF) official denies that the rebel group knowingly sold millions of dollars in diamonds to Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida terrorist network, using a safe house in Liberia, as was reported in the Washington Post on November 2. Eldred Collins, former RUF party spokesman, told the BBC that two of those named by the Post were not members of the RUF and that he believes the accusations have been conjured up by people seeking to destroy the new RUF political party, the Revolutionary United Front Party (RUFP).
