(Rapaport…October 11, 2001) The RUF Political and Peace Council, the Sierra Leone government and UN peacekeepers met on October 11 in Freetown to discuss the current stall in the disarmament process. RUF Political and Peace Council chairman Omrie Golley said the RUF will raise the issue of transforming the rebel movement into a political party and repeat its call for the convening of a national consultative conference.
