(Rapaport…July 20, 2001) Sixty-seven rebels and 16 civilian militia fighters turned over weapons to the UN in diamond-rich eastern Sierra Leone on July 19, just a day after reports of new fighting between rebels and pro-government forces. The UN said clashes between the two groups broke out on July 18: no casualties were reported.
